Todd Mack Reischman’s job is music to our ears—or maybe sound effects to our ears! As Resident Sound Designer and Head of Audio-Video, Todd manages a variety of responsibilities relating to everything you hear when you come to a production at the IRT. Whether curating the music for a show (like he did for Every Brilliant Thing), mixing sound effects, designing custom sound systems, or any other project, Todd pulls from his love of music, theatre, and problem-solving.
How long have you worked at the IRT and in what role? 18 years as Resident Sound Designer/Head of Audio-Video What does a typical day look like for you and what do you enjoy most about working in your department? There really is no ‘typical day”. It fluctuates depending on the tasks at hand. I like working with audio and music and I dig theatre. I love problem-solving and the challenges our productions present. I enjoy learning new things. What’s one helpful tip you’d offer someone coming to the IRT for the first time? Give yourself extra time to find parking. Favorite Indy restaurant or place to visit or thing to do? Cycling. Lots of great trails around downtown. Cultural Trail, White River, Monon, etc. Do you have a favorite show(s) you’ve seen at the IRT? The Whipping Man, The Game’s Afoot, Noises Off. |
