![]() What is inspiring you right now? Honestly, it's challenging to be inspired right now so I'm going to answer this with things that are bringing me cheer: Lots of puppy cuddles, Bon Appetit and Good Mythical Morning videos, reading books, and playing games with my family virtually. What was your favorite or most challenging project you worked on during the 19-20 season at the IRT? My favorite project was the pre-production photo shoot for Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express. These photo shoots are always challenging because there is a lot of planning, logistics, and editing that goes into them and they always need to be turned around very quickly. Do you have a dream show you you'd love to work on - either in your role or a different one? Dracula! What piece of art, music, or creativity in general do you always like to see, listen to, or do? Right now I keep playing the Hamilton soundtrack and Beyonce's Homecoming album on repeat. What do the arts mean to you? I'm going to answer this with the cliche "arts mean everything" and I'll tell you why. Art is something I've always been drawn to and something I immersed myself in since the age of 5. It started as an interest in learning how to dance, coloring pictures, performing in musicals, and eventually having a career in design. I realized that art was impactful when I was a teenager. I had an interest in photography and videography so I started my own YouTube channel (before YouTube was popular and when Movie Maker was cool). This channel had everything - lyric videos, stop motion, dancing, skits, photo montages, and some classic middle school music videos. They definitely wouldn't pay the bills in today's YouTube era, but I learned the importance of art - it's a form of communication. Art is something that you're exposed to throughout your daily life whether you realize you're taking it in or not. Tv, radio, billboards, books, the apps on your phone, websites, social media layouts, the way your computer functions, videos - it's all a form of art. This realization became really important to me and I knew I would continue to share a voice through visual communication. I'm extremely grateful that I get to be in an arts organization that shares such entertaining, impactful, and meaningful work with the Indianapolis community. |
