![]() . Name and IRT Role Hillary Martin, Company Manager What is inspiring you right now? The outside. Being out in the sun and great weather. Creating adventures for my kids to keep exploring our little bubble we’ve created. Serving others: Being on the lookout to help a neighbor, baking and sharing with others. What was your favorite or most challenging project you worked on during the 2019-2020 season at the IRT? I focused on working with so many new designers. How do we welcome them when their time here is different from the actors? I created an email, follow up times in their trips with them. Ensuring they had the right contact and knew who to call, etc. Another favorite was driving DeLanna Studi, creator and performer of And So We Walked: An Artist's Journey Along the Trail of Tears, to an Artist in the Classroom visit way out of town. Spending that time with her was amazing. Listening to her tell her story to middle school kids was amazing. She answered their questions so openly and honestly it was breathtaking. She engaged each one of them. Looked at them, listened to them. It was amazing. Do you have a dream show that you would love to work on–either in your role or a different one? I would love for us to produce Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense by David and Robert Goodale and Eleemosynary by Lee Blessing. What piece of art, music, or creativity in general do you always like to see, listen to, or do? I love beautifully written stories. Whether it’s in a book, a show or a movie. I love being sucked in so deeply that I think about the characters like they are my friends. I re-read books often to visit old friends. When it comes to art I’m an impressionist girl. I could sit in a room full of Monets, Van Goghs, Manets for hours on end. What do the arts mean to you? Art moves my soul. It takes me to someone else’s world and life then expands my life and world. |
