Indiana Repertory Theatre reveals two more productions in virtual season
INclusion Series play and a timeless romance add to the thoughtful, creative lineup Indianapolis, Ind.—As the New Year begins, the Indiana Repertory Theatre staff is pleased to announce two more plays in its virtual season: the first play in this year’s INclusion Series, PNC presents NO. 6 by T.J. Young, followed by the timeless romance Cyrano, based on the book by Edmond Rostand and adapted for the stage by Jo Roets. “We are pleased to be able to continue our virtual season, and we are grateful for our patrons and supporters in this New Year,” IRT’s Margot Lacy Eccles Artistic Director Janet Allen said. “So much has changed over the course of the last year. One thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to providing thought-provoking, high-quality theatre, and we continue this tradition with these productions.” Written by T.J. Young, PNC presents NO. 6 is inspired by true events that took place in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2001, and explores the extremely relevant conversations of race and violence. A Black family, caught up in the upheaval of the aftermath of a police shooting, is at the center of NO. 6. Among the cast of four will be local actor Milicent Wright, who was most recently seen on the IRT stage in last February’s production of The Watsons Go to the Birmingham—1963. The IRT will bring artists from around the country to work on this stirring drama. To create the marketing artwork for this March production, the IRT connected with multidisciplinary Indianapolis artist Tasha Beckwith, who is currently working on the painting that will represent the play in the promotional materials. Streaming mid-April, audiences will enjoy the ultimate romantic triangle in Cyrano. Played out against the swirling pageantry of 17th century France, this classic tale of mistaken love will feature local actor Ryan Artzberger in the title role, the man with an ungainly nose and a large heart. The holiday offering This Wonderful Life concluded earlier this month, and up next for the IRT is Tuesdays with Morrie, streaming in February 8 – 21, 2021. Based on Mitch Albom’s popular book, the play will star actors Henry Woronicz and Ryan Artzberger. The 2020-2021 Season is generously supported by OneAmerica Financial Partners. Virtual tickets and 3-Play packages are available for the season at irtlive.com or by calling the IRT Ticket Office at 317.635.5252.
